ArcheAge is a sandbox game, there are a variety of ways to make money. The main way you will make your gold is by using your labor.
Choose one that fits your playstyle and the amount of time you want to commit to making gold. As you increase your proficiency in any given profession, your silver per labor spent will increase.

Land

There are a variety of building designs that can be used to claim land. Generally, they fall into 3 categories: Scarecrows, Houses, and Farmhouses.
Land has many different uses to help a player's economy. It can be used to grow materials that you can then sell or craft into something else to sell. It can also be used to stage trade packs for more efficient trade running. Some players even make money from simply claiming and selling it. Owning land requires you to pay taxes each week using Tax Certificates, and the amount of taxes you owe scales with the amount of land you own.

- Any crafting profession
Note that players will also pay your for your labor.
