ArcheAge is a sandbox game, there are a variety of ways to make money. The main way you will make your gold is by using your labor.
Choose one that fits your playstyle and the amount of time you want to commit to making gold. As you increase your proficiency in any given profession, your silver per labor spent will increase.
If you haven't, it may also be helpful to read the Making Gold section of the Getting Started guide.
