In ArcheAge, one of the optional dailies you'll find is working at a castle!
On Classic, castles are located on the continent of Auroria in Nuimari, Calmlands, Heedmar, and Marcala.
Working in a Castle grants Lord's Coins, which can be very useful for later gear progression. They're also sought after and players will pay a fair price for them
Obtaining a Work Permit
To obtain a Work Permit, you'll first have to be in a Guild. In the prestige shop, you'll find a Blank Work Permit for 50 Prestige
Picking a Castle to work on
Picking a castle to work on is dependent on two things:
- The Ruling Guild
- The state of the castle
You'll usually want to prefer a castle with many farms as it helps get Territoken Quests faster.
As for the ruling guild, this is more of a personal preference. Workers on a Castle generate taxes for the Ruling Guild, which in turn generate Lord's Coins for them. You may want to prefer a ruling guild that aligns with what you like in game. But this is entirely a personal choice.

Work Orders
Work Orders are triggered by the ruling guild of a castle. When a work order is triggered, the workbenches on the castle Fortress will ask players spend some labor in exchange for a Lord's Coin.
Ruling Guilds will trigger Work Orders to receive Territory Building Materials, which can be used to build Walls, Farms and all Castle buildings.
